Staff from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) will provide a briefing to the Bend MPO Policy Board on their work to lower the carbon content in fuels to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Over the past year, ODEQ staff has been working with a 29-member advisory committee to develop a low carbon fuel standard as required in House Bill 2186 (approved by the 2009 Legislature). The goal of the bill is to reduce the carbon intensity of Oregon’s transportation fuels by 10 percent over 10 years.

The advisory committee has developed a final committee report and an economic analysis report. ODEQ staff is now conducting stakeholder outreach to determine whether to move ahead into a formal rulemaking process. ODEQ staff will make a formal presentation with time following for questions/answers. The workshop logistics are as follows:
