When: Thursday, January 16, 2014, 6-8 PM
Where: Madison's Bar & Grill, 1109 SE Madison Street, Portland
Cost: Free and open to the public! RSVP here through the City Club of Portland.

Portland is known as a transportation planning hub, yet few people could tell you how it all started. There are two projects that set the stage for the current transportation system: The Mount Hood Highway and The Western Bypass. Both of these projects failed, however these failures gave rise to a focus on light rail, as well as a legal framework for future investment. George Crandall and Sy Adler are two transportation experts who will speak about these topics and their relevance to today’s issues. George Crandall is an accomplished regional planner and was the lead project manager on the Mount Hood Highway. Sy Adler is a professor of urban studies and planning at Portland State University and has extensive knowledge on the Western Bypass project.

RSVP here through the City Club of Portland.
