Thank You for Six Great Years
Today we are proud to announce the transition of 1000 Friends of Oregon’s Executive Director Jason Miner to serve as Oregon’s next Natural Resources Policy Director in Governor Kate Brown’s cabinet.
"Jason has a strong background in conservation, land use law, and coalition building," Governor Brown said. "I welcome Jason to my policy team and look forward to engaging with Oregonians to better preserve and protect the long-term health of our natural resources, while balancing the needs of Oregon communities to support a thriving statewide economy.”
Since 2010, Miner served as Executive Director of 1000 Friends of Oregon. With the help of exceptionally talented staff, he launched programs like the New Face of Farming, the Land Use Leadership Initiative, a statewide Food Systems program, and most recently Portland for Everyone. Miner built a statewide network of organizations and stakeholders representing the diverse interests of Oregonians, including farmers, ranchers, small woodlot owners, environmentalists, and advocates for more livable cities, transportation, environmental justice, and equity.
1000 Friends successes in the past six years can not be understated. From helping lift our statewide ban on inclusionary zoning to the adoption of anti-displacement measures in the City of Portland’s Comprehensive Plan. From the protection of thousands of acres of farm and forest land from wasteful sprawl in communities across the state to the education of our next generation of land use leaders who have moved our communities forward on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We are proud of the work that has been done to protect our farms and forests, to build great communities, and to defend the iconic places that make Oregon home. We thank Jason Miner for his service to 1000 Friends and to the state of Oregon. We know that his great work will continue to serve Oregon, protecting the spaces we all hold dear.
Please join us in congratulating Jason Miner on this next chapter.
