Congressman John Mica to hear from Portland Metro region about transportation needs

Speak Out for 21st Century Transportation Options

Congressman John Mica (FL), chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will visit our region to facilitate a field hearing on the federal transportation bill, a piece of legislation that will affect funding for nearly every potential transportation project in our region and the nation for the next 6 years.

This is part of a series of field hearings Congressman Mica is conducting nationwide. Congresswoman Jaime Herrrera Beutler (WA), Congressman Peter DeFazio (OR) and others from the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will be at this one.

The first hour will be a roundtable discussion amongst invited transportation leaders, with the second half opened to public comment.

The space accommodates only 60 people, so we recommend arriving one hour early bringing written testimony in case you do not have the opportunity to testify. Written testimony can also be submitted to Anna Bartlett at anna.bartlett@mail.house.gov and will be read into the record.

Where: Clark County Public Utility Building, 1200 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver, WA.

When: Washington’s Birthday, Monday, Feb. 21, 9-11am.

Why: This hearing may be the single biggest opportunity for our region to call for federal funding for a complete transportation system that provides options for everyone.
