Rooftop gardens, solar streetlights, ‘greenline’ pedestrian streets...

Imagine what Bend might look like if it were one of the most environmentally sustainable cities
in the world.  That was the challenge taken up by the Bend Living City Design Project – an
independent, all-volunteer team of Bend architects, planners and students.

The teamʼs answer was entered in the Living Cities Design Competition sponsored by the
International Living Building Institute ( – one of 80 entries from around the world.
Winners will be announced at the Living Future 2011 conference in Vancouver, B.C. at the end
of this month.

You can be among the first to learn about what this team envisioned during their month-long
planning exercise – including some images of a Bend youʼve never seen before.  Please join us
for a slide presentation and visual displays.
