1000 Friends is pleased to host Sy Adler, author of Oregon Plans, a new history of Oregon land use planning and activism, for the next event in our 2012 McCall Society Speaker Series.

Dr. Adler is Professor of Urban Studies and Planning at Portland State University, where he has taught and researched since 1982.

His new book, Oregon Plans, is the culmination of years of archival research and interviews with the people who shaped Oregon's land use planning program, from advocates like 1000 Friends of Oregon to government agencies and businesses. At this engaging event, Professor Adler will share his insights into what the program's origins teach us about its future.

Sy Adler recently sat down to answer questions with 1000 Friends staff. Read what he had to say about what his book teaches Oregon now.

Learn more about the book, and purchase a copy from the Oregon State University Press.

RSVPs are required for this event. To RSVP, please contact Kristin Barber at or 503-497-1000 x123.
