Legislative Brown Bag Lunch in Salem

Oregon’s 76th Legislative Assembly is underway. Over the next five months, several key land use issues may emerge, including:

• The availability of industrial land for economic development within UGBs;
• Destination resort reform;
• Greater clarity on the type of events allowed on exclusive farm use properties.

In addition, we expect that there will be attempts to weaken land use planning laws.

Proposed Control Tower at Aurora State Airport Will Benefit Marion County at Clackamas County's Expense

Receiving funding approval, the air traffic control tower at Aurora Airport will be built with state funds and then operated by the Federal Aviation Administration. The application, fast-tracked by the Marion County commissioners and the Aviation Department, enabled the department to compete and get Oregon Department of Transportation funding to build the tower while excluding Wilsonville and Clackamas County, the municipalities most impacted by flights using Aurora Airport, from the planning process.
